What you’re renting

The post is weighted, and a belt cassette sits in the head of it. Draw the belt across, clip it into the next post, and the lane exists. The head is a four-way top — all four faces take a belt — so straight runs, right-angle corners, T-junctions and closed boxes all come out of the same stanchion with no corner parts to order. Each belt pulls a full 8 feet and winds back on a governed brake rather than snapping, then sits flush in the head when it is stowed.

No tools, seconds per post, and nothing that marks a floor — which is why the same stanchion ends up in a hotel ballroom, on a conference level, on a festival site and outside a front entrance without anyone thinking twice about it.

Belts run black, blue or red and any of the three goes on either post. Depth is in black, and that is what most runs take. Blue and red are real options rather than stock assumptions — flag one on the enquiry and we confirm availability for your dates on the quote.

Our stanchions in action

Belt stanchions on live event builds.

Belt or rope — which suits the job?

Either one will hold a line. What separates them is how the line is meant to read:

Belt stanchions go up fastest and redraw fastest, and they are the safer choice where a queue is dense — the belt sits flat across the gap with nothing at ankle height. Registration desks, check-in, conference floors, trade show aisles, activations, festival entry: anywhere the traffic is heavy and the shape keeps changing.

Rope stanchions are the dressed version — a weighted post with velvet hanging between. Galas, award nights, wedding entrances and any arrival that is going to be photographed.

After the dressed version? That is rope stanchions →. Laying a walk to go with it? Add carpet runners →.

Where belt stanchions are used

Belt stanchions are the equipment nobody photographs and every event needs. Where they end up in and around Calgary:

  • Brand activations & product launches

Pop-up builds, launch evenings, sampling lanes, photo moments — a drawn line is what makes a temporary build read as deliberate.

  • Festivals, concerts & live shows

Entry lanes, box office and will-call, bar queues, and holding the public off backstage and artist routes.

  • Corporate events & conferences

Registration and check-in, badge collection, breakout doors, and keeping delegates off staging and cable runs.

  • Galas & award nights

Arrivals, the step-and-repeat, seating flow and VIP lanes on a black-tie evening.

  • Film & TV shoots

Holding areas, background talent routing and keeping the public out of shot — and quick to strike between setups.

  • Sporting events & trade shows

Gate entry, accreditation, booth queues and aisle control across a show floor.

Pricing

Belt stanchions are quoted on how many posts your line takes and how long you keep them. Send the shape of the queue with your dates and the figure comes back itemised, with delivery and pickup already inside it.

There is no fixed total to publish, because a boardroom door and a two-thousand-delegate registration are not the same order. What comes back is one itemised figure covering everything you asked for.

Why rent from Stanchions Calgary

  • Custom orders. A mixed run, an odd shape, a lane that has to fit around something — we build the order to the job rather than to a package.

  • Clean, matched units. Posts are checked and cleaned between hires, so a long run reads as one line — nothing scuffed, nothing odd one out.

  • Delivery, setup and pickup. Out across the province, set to your layout if you want it, collected once the event is down. Nobody on your team lifts a post.

  • Fast, itemised quotes. Corporate and agency work is most of what we do, and the quote is written the way those clients need it — itemised, in writing, one figure.

How it works

  1. Request a quote.

Dates, quantities and the event address. Email is the only field we insist on. No idea on the count? Describe the space instead.

  2. We confirm & deliver.

Details get confirmed, the order goes to your venue, and our crew sets the layout if that is what you want.

  3. We pick up after.

Once it is over we come back for it. Nothing to pack down, nothing to return.

Delivery across Alberta

Belt stanchions go out from Calgary across the province — Airdrie, Okotoks, Cochrane, Chestermere and Strathmore close to home, then south through High River to Lethbridge and Medicine Hat, and west up the Bow Valley to Canmore and Banff.

FAQ

How much does it cost to rent belt stanchions in Calgary?

We do not publish a rate card, because a line of six posts at a boardroom door and a switchback for a two-thousand-delegate registration are not the same order. Send the dates, the products and quantities, and the event address, and you will get one itemised figure covering everything you asked for — delivery, setup and pickup available and quoted as their own lines, with nothing added afterwards.

How many belt stanchions will my line take?

Put posts roughly 6 feet apart, walk the route you want the queue to follow, and count. Posts stand at both ends of every span, so a run of n posts gives you n − 1 spans — count the spans, then add one. Add posts for each corner and a couple spare.

What spacing should I plan between posts?

The belt draws 8 feet, but 6 feet between posts is the number to plan with. That leaves a little slack in the belt, which holds the line steadier and looks better than a belt stretched dead straight.

Belt or rope — how do I choose?

Belt goes up faster, redraws faster and is safer in a dense queue because nothing sits at ankle height. Rope is the dressed option, for arrivals that will be photographed. See rope stanchions → if that is the look you need.

Will they work outside?

Yes, on flat and firm ground. Where a site is exposed or the surface is uneven, we will talk the layout through with you, or point you at crowd control barriers → if the job actually wants something heavier.

Which post — black or chrome?

Black stays out of the way and suits nearly everything. Chrome is the dressier of the two and tends to go to galas, award evenings and VIP receptions. Both carry a black belt and both are quoted the same, so it is purely a question of how the room should read.

Do you deliver the posts and lay the run out?

Yes. Delivery runs across the province and pickup afterwards is part of it rather than a second charge; setup and teardown are optional add-ons.

Need belt stanchions for your Calgary event?

Send the shape of your queue and the dates. Email is the only field we need.
